Our journey will take us through remote coves where casks of French brandy were hauled ashore under moonlight, into the homes of local families who played both sides of the law, and along treacherous cliffs where fortunes were made and lives were lost. We'll explore not just what happened here, but why examining the economic pressures, geographical advantages, and complex moral codes that made smuggling not just profitable but, in local eyes, entirely justifiable.
